Project for Enhancement of Engineering Higher Education in Myanmar
Graduate School of Engineering, Nagasaki University has been taking part in the “Project of Enhancement of Engineering Higher Education in Myanmar” with the cooperation of the Consortium of Six National Universities in Japan (SixERS, http://sixers.jp/en/) (Chiba, Niigata, Kanazawa, Okayama, Nagasaki and Kumamoto) along with Kyoto University under the assistance of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
From the beginning of this project, our team has been actively involved in the development of an implementation plan by gathering necessary information in Myanmar upon preceding the project.
Thus, we currently have been playing an important role as a central university of the participating universities.
Education and research environment in Myanmar has been deteriorated rapidly due to the long military regime.
On this project, Japanese Supporting Universities (JSUs) assist Myanmar Engineering faculties to enhance their education and research capability via the implementation of Staff Training and Japan Short Stay Training along with obtaining of PhD program.
The project also has been supplying engineering equipment in order to conduct research exercises satisfactory.
Through these exchange programs, the project is aiming to improve the quality of engineering education to train the engineering personnel who have a key role in the infrastructure development, industrial development of Myanmar country in the near future.
